Learn the basic foundation for a Jivamukti OPEN level class.
Week 1: Standing Postures
Week 2: Forward Bending
Week 3: Back Bending
Week 4: Turning it Upside Down and Putting it All Together
In this four week cycle of classes we will break down the proper alignment for many of the postures you will experience in a Jivamukti OPEN level class. You will become acquainted with the vocabulary for the postures in English and in the Sanskrit language. We'll learn and practice proper breathing techniques, usage of props, modifications inside the poses, meditation, bandhas, the sound Om, and discover the benefits of practicing a flowing sequence of movement linked to the breath and a high intention.
Jivamukti Basics is intended for beginners and any student wishing to deepen his or her experience of Jivamukti Yoga. Beginners will develop a strong foundation of alignment principles and develop confidence inside many simple postures as well as postures you didn't think you could ever do!
More advanced students will be able to slow down and go back to the alignment principles learning how to properly align, prop, and/or modify each asana.
The class moves in a four week cycle, but is a drop in class. You don't have to start at the beginning, but if you would like to, please call the studio to find out when our next week one begins. Each cycle of classes is different introducing new postures.
