"Classes with a Difference"

Ready to think about Labor and Birth? We offer small classes set in a nurturing environment. Topics based on fact are presented with humor and active participation. Guest speakers, videos, handouts, and reading references are used to give you the best information from a wide array of sources. These classes are right for everyone regardless of the type of birth experience you are hoping for or where you choose to deliver. Topics include Anatomy and Physiology of labor and birth, coping techniques approached from many different philosophies, partner roles, variations and complications, medical technology and pain relief and much more. Each class addresses breathing techniques, meditation, relaxation and mobility through discussion and practice.


Paula Huffman has been teaching Prepared Childbirth classes for 15 years, 10 of those spent teaching through UNC hospitals.She began teaching in Special Education in 1974and also holds certifications as a Registered Nurse, Childbirth Educator, Perinatal Fitness Instructor, and Interdisciplinary Yoga Teacher inlcuding a special certification in Restorative Yoga through Judith Lasater. She has also received training in and occasionally practices as a Doula. Paula is the proud mom of her daughter Judith who was born at home. Her goal for all pregnant couples is to offer information, knowledge and confidence to make smart informed decisions throughout the process of Pregnancy and Birth.
