Monday
through Friday 12 Noon.
Yoga 1&2 and Flow Yoga served up at the lunch hour to give you
a midday break. What's the special part of the Blue Plate Special?
These classes are only $10. Play hooky for an hour
to clear your mind and stretch the bod. We
try to have a lot of fun and pack in as much yoga as we can for for
these mid day classes.
Yoga 1 & 2 will
involve basic building blocks of a good yoga practice with some challenges
thrown in for those who want to go deeper. Sun Salutations,
warming up, strengthening standing poses, and deep stretches on the
floor will all be part of the bag of tricks thrown together on the
spot. Modifications and meditations will be given and tailor
made for each member of the class.
Flow Yoga uses the breath more than any other style
of yoga. As you inhale and exhale, you move into and out of poses,
you energize and relax within the pose, you continually stoke your
inner fire by simply adding the element of conscious breath. This
style is usually more active and can accommodate many levels since
everyone monitors their own engagement and intensity.
Ashtanga Yoga
This is a traditional practice form first introduced to the west by
K. Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India.
It takes its name from the 8 limbed (or ashta-anga) system outlined
by Patanjali in the Yoga
Sutra in 200 BC. Only one of Patanjali's limbs was concerned with
the asanas (poses) and his
treatise is primarily a roadmap toward meditation and enlightenment.
Pattabhi Jois (and before
him, his teacher Krishnamacharya) alleges that this system of asana
practice is the practice of
Patanjali.
