Private Yoga Sessions
Getting Started... Free Consultations
Carrboro Yoga Company has gained a reputation for helping folks find just the right class for them by taking the time to get to know what our clients are looking for. If you want to try yoga and are not sure where to start, why not come in and let us help you. Some of our classes are geared towards relaxation, some strengthening, some spirituality, and each person's body and needs are different.  Yoga is not a one size fits all.  It is best to start out easier and work your way into the more challenging classes as your confidence grows. We offer a free consultation service in which you can have a one-on-one session with one of our trained and experienced instructors to listen to what you are looking for, help you know the various benefits of yoga, and recommend several of our offered classes tailored to suit your goals. Call into the office, 919.933.2921, to schedule this time, Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays.

To Take It a Step Further... Private Sessions

For beginners
I have had friends say to me "I want to take yoga, but I want to know what I am doing first." We created Yoga 101 for that very reason, to help folks learn the basics before jumping in. (Because let's face it, going to a yoga class sometimes can feel a lot like adult Simon Says or Follow the Leader).Maybe the time doesn't work for you. But if you want to learn more on a private level, or with a small group of friends, family or coworkers, we offer private yoga instruction as well. In these privates session you can ask a million questions, let us know what you like and don't like, tell us what your expectations are of yoga and learn what exist in yoga that could benefit you in many ways. By working individually with your instructor you can grow much faster and have personal attention in ways you may not be able to get in classes. These could focus also on many topics such as stress reduction/relaxation, strengthening, balance, meditation/peace of mind, aerobic moment and stamina training, breathing techniques,  and overall wellness.

For more advanced and those wanting to grow

You've got the basics now but where do you want to go with it?  Let's play and work out goals to practice towards. In yoga the concept of obtaining goals is relative since we are always in a state of learning and growing, there is no perfect pose or end to the practice. Yoga is an ongoing journey like life, a way to look at life, a tool for learning life skills. But we can work on certain objectives, learning breathing practices, sequenced yoga movements to do at home or during travel, building strength or openness within a posture to take it deeper. (For example forward folds, to downward dog, to dolphin pose, to headstand preps with the wall, to half headstand, to headstand to scorpion etc...as the body grows in the practice the skill level requires higher challenges within the basic context of the practice.) These can be done as an ongoing relationship or we can build a measured course of time to work toward a specific goal. Six weeks to learn more with the focus of stamina for example, or a challenging pose a month to keep it fresh and engaging. By working one-on-one you co-create your learning and are in control of how far you want to take it.

For those healing from injuries, women who are pregnant, or those just seeking special care
The therapeutic benefits of yoga are powerful in even the most gentle and simple of practices. The most wonderful component of yoga is it can be done for everybody, young old, slim, robust, athletic, frail, all can have programs designed specifically to address their needs and issues. They have a yoga for everything these days!  We have many on staff who are specifically trained on areas of rehabilitation, meditation, spinal health, pre and postnatal yoga, and yoga for bodies that don't bend and move or who have experienced many years of stillness leading to stiffness and limited range of motion.
Who could benefit from these private or semi-private sessions?
*   Athletes who want to heal an injury or who want to learn how yoga can improve their performance in competitive situations.
*   Women going through menopause, pre menopause, osteoporosis, or those just wanting to keep the body open and in good running condition.
*   The active elderly who want to stay that way or those who have never been all that active but want to get moving to use it not loose it.
*   Those with overly stimulated minds needing to unplug and learn how to turn the brain off, or those who want to learn self-quieting techniques which can help with sleep, tension, and coping with day to day life.
*   Prenatal women getting ready for the big day, or postnatal women wanting to recover the body after baby has come.
