For those who have never been to a yoga class before or those who
want to brush up on the basic fundamentals. This is a fun light-hearted
look into what yoga is and how it works. We'll explain the structure
of a yoga class, meditation, warm-up, asanas (positions), and relaxation.
This eight-week introduction to yoga will break it down for everyone
to be comfortable, relaxed, and confidant to move on to more challenging
courses.
We will cover...
* Basic breathing techniques for yoga, why they are important and
how they can help you in day-to-day life.
* Easy meditations that will help you de-stress, get centered, clear
the mind, focus your thoughts, and feel better. All of this improves
concentration, stabilizes blood pressure and heart rates, relaxes
the body while improving the mind-body-spirit connection.
* Simple yoga postures and their modifications so anyone at any age
or level of flexibility can use them. We will learn how to go into
and out of these poses correctly or in the best way for your body
and will discuss the benefits of each pose. We have had many body
types come through this class and each can find a way to learn a posture.
Married couples, college students, couch potatos, teenagers, retired
professionals, working stiffs (pun provided by the self-proclaimed
stiffs) and even a couple in their seventies all have enjoyed the
program and found postures to fit their bodies.

* Easy take home series of postures called a Sun Salutation that you
can do in the morning or anytime to loosen up and stretch out.
* How to have fun with yoga and make friends during the whole class!
If you need to miss a class, that's okay. Everyone can have one
make up class for free good for the next session. It is important
to come to each class to get a all of the information and each class
builds on the next. There is a brief review at the beginning of each
class to catch you up if you had to miss a day.
There is a 15 person maximum in this class so sign up in advanced
to hold your space! We also have many gentle, beginner classes on
our schedule so call us if you want help with these, or can't wait
for the next go round.
Led by Cheryl Diegel. Wednesday evenings 7:15. Please
register in advanced since these classes sell out quickly!
