Hatha Raja Yoga with Jasmine


Hatha Raja Yoga: "Ha" and "tha", the sun and the moon in sanskrit, refers to the opposite currents regulating the body. The system of hatha yoga was designed to obtain mastery over these currents. Raja is the royal path. This is the path of yoga designed to add concentration once the body has been purified and the mind quieted. This concentration is aimed at realizing the true self, thus realizing ones connection to all beings everywhere.

The postures in this class are performed with slow graceful movements, so fantastic feelings of inner calm and self-control are felt immediately. Through this practice radiant health can be achieved. The progression of poses is intense yet non-strenuous in nature, and will strengthen and tone the muscles, and work to rid the glands and organs of toxins. Practicing in a relaxed manner and feeling content during the practice is emphasized.   In addition to the asanas (poses) the class will include pranayam (breathing exercises), meditation and deep relaxation, and will incorporate yogic philosophy and scriptures. All are welcome.
